Microsoft’s June 2026 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 also bring a security hardening change for custom folders. After KB5094126 and KB5093998 are installed, folder customizations defined by desktop.ini will no longer appear when Windows treats the source as untrusted, including files from the internet with Mark-of-the-Web, some remote locations, and network paths outside trusted zones.
