What Changed Compared with the Original Sharge Disk Pro?

The original Disk Pro was clever, but it was also opinionated. It arrived pre-populated with storage, used a fixed cable, and felt like a product where several design decisions were made for the user. The Disk Pro 2 corrects the biggest of those issues by moving to a user-installable M.2 NVMe SSD approach and a removable host cable. The Disk Pro 2 addresses several of the limitations of the original model. That matters because SSD pricing, capacity needs and brand preferences vary widely. A fixed-capacity portable dock can become awkward very quickly, whereas an empty enclosure lets users choo

What are the Aiolos’s features?

The Asus Aiolos is a 20Gbps USB 3.2×2 SSD enclosure that will accept a single 2280, 2260, and 2242 (22mm wide, 80/60/42mm long) form factor NVMe SSD. The enclosure measures 4.55 x 1.8 x 0.6 inches (approximate) and weighs only around 1.4 ounces. “Tool-less” installation is a major Aiolos selling point. The enclosure opens easily for installation thanks to two spring-loaded latches on the side of the unit, which are shown in the first two images below. I put “tool-less” in quotes as there’s a caveat — the thumb screw that holds down the NVMe SSD took more than a bit of force to remove. Starting

How fast is the Asus Aiolos?

The Asus Aiolos is the second fastest 20Gbps NVMe SSD enclosure we’ve tested, falling behind only Asus’s own TUF Gaming A2 by a slim margin. Yup. Fratricide. Regardless, it bested everything else and I have zero complaints about the Aiolos’s performance. CrystalDiskMark 8 rated the Aiolos as a very good sequential performer. You can read about the competing GlyphAtom EX20 here. On the other hand, the TUF Gaming A2 whomped it in the CrystalDiskMark 8 4K tests. The Aiolos isn’t bad, the A2 is just that good. In our real-world 48GB transfers, the Aiolos more than held its own. Both in Windows Exp

What makes the Samsung 9100 PRO SSD so good?

The 9100 PRO was Samsung's first shot at a full-fledged PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, and to say the company nailed the execution is an understatement. It's theoretically capable of hitting unreal 14,800MB/s read speeds and 13,400MB/s write speeds, and although those numbers may drop a bit in real-world practice, it's still an incredibly fast drive. Our friends at TechRadar reviewed the 9100 PRO when it launched last year, and it was awarded 4.5 stars and a Recommended Award. The TL;DR? It's an exceptional drive for professionals who frequently deal with oversized files and who don't want any hiccups in

SSD prices are crazy right now, but these Samsung 9100 PRO drives buck the trend with up to 49% off — 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models are all on sale
