The original Super Mario Bros. Movie was released in theaters on April 5, 2023, and was made available for purchase digitally at home on May 16, 2023. That's a 41-day window from its theatrical debut to its digital release. More recent releases from Illumination have had shorter theatrical runs (Migration, 32 days) and longer runs (Despicable Me 4, 69 days), so there isn't an exact date we can extrapolate for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. 4K Blu-ray and DVD releases of The Super Mario Bros. Online retailers, including Amazon, Gruv, and Walmart, have pre-order pages for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Blu-ray and DVD, but no confirmed release date yet.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will likely stream first on NBCUniversal's Peacock service, just like the previous film. Expect a roughly two-month wait for a Peacock streaming release after Galaxy comes to Blu-ray and DVD. That probably means a late-summer or early-fall streaming debut on Peacock.

The original Super Mario Bros. Movie did get an eventual Netflix release, as part of a streaming deal between Universal and Netflix. Universal's movies (including those from Illumination and Dreamworks) first stream on Peacock for a four-month window of exclusivity, then go to Netflix for 10 months, then back to Peacock. If The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives on Peacock in August, expect it to drop on Netflix in December.
