Framework is a company that produces modular laptops designed so users can replace components like the motherboard, display, and keyboard.
An online commenter tried to convince me recently that Framework laptops are a “joke” simply because of the premium price the company charges for upgrades. $450 or so buys you a new Mainboard to upgrade an existing Framework laptop. Compared to the laptops I tested against, there are several cases where Framework charges $600 or so more. But Framework isn’t alone in adjusting its prices. Component pricing fluctuates, laptop prices change as a result, and retailers adjust their own pricing to move inventory. It’s a world that’s constantly in flux.
