The DPDK is a set of libraries and drivers for fast packet processing. You can convert a general-purpose processor into your own packet forwarder without having to use expensive custom switches and routers. The DPDK runs mostly in Linux* user-land, though a FreeBSD* port is available for a subset of DPDK features. DPDK is an open source BSD licensed project. The most recent patches and enhancements, provided by the community, are available in the main branch.
